Saskatoon Endodontic treatment:Keep your teeth healthy from the inside out |
A root canal treatment, also called an endodontic treatment, removes infected, injured or dead pulp from the base of your tooth. The space inside the hard layers of your tooth is called the root canal system, which is filled with soft dental pulp. It’s made up of blood vessels and nerves to help your tooth grow and develop. Sometimes bacteria can enter your tooth through holes caused by deep cavities, cracks or flawed fillings. This is when your tooth can become abscessed (an infection in the tooth’s pulp) which means that the pulp needs to be removed. An abscessed tooth can be painful or cause swelling. We’ll be able to notice infections from a dental x-ray or from other changes with the tooth. If left untreated, an abscessed tooth can cause serious oral health problems. If you think you have a tooth infection, book an appointment with one of our doctors today. We’ll take a look and explain the best options to help you with any pain or swelling you might be having.
